HCT Group is an award winning and rapidly growing community transport company. We helped it raise £4m towards its goals.
What does it do?
Founded in 1982 HCT Group is a flag-bearer for the concept of community transport. It provides mainstream bus services, transport for the disabled and helps improve education and employment opportunities for young people. It is one of the shining lights of the social enterprise movement and has been chosen to provide transport within the Olympic Park for 2012.
What did they need?
HCT Group was in the process of raising cash to facilitate HCTs growth in existing operations. reduce founding costs and expansion into new markets. The company was also looking for finance to help fund merger and acquisition opportunities.
What we offered
HCT Group attended our first Social Investment Evening with Coutts & Co. Dai Powell, Chief Executive, of HCT pitched his business to a large audience of high net worth individuals all looking to support social businesses and enterprises. Dai also worked with ClearlySo affiliate Catalyst Fund Management & Research to secure institutional investment. Through this he raised approximately £3m in funding.
What happens next?
Following on from his pitch, Dai was contacted by one of the investors at the event. At a follow up meeting, he secured £50k of investment which is split between a social loan and fixed rate bond. HCT Group also raised £4m through Catalyst.
