About our events

This short feature by the BBC's World Service gives you a great insight in to what goes on at our social investment speed dating events.

ClearlySo organise a variety of events, ranging from our flagship Social Business Conference to investment evenings. We also run training seminars and host plenty of networking events that give you a chance to share your experiences with other social entrepreneurs facing similar challenges to yourself.

All of our upcoming events can be found in our events section; or read on for a brief description of our most common formats.

Social investment evenings

We host social investment evenings around the UK; in partnership with private banks. At these events, entrepreneurs attempt to impress the crowd with their five minute business pitch in the hope of finding investment. The investors then get a chance to ask questions of the entrepreneur, before an informal gathering over drinks and food for further networking.

Attendance at these events is conditional upon a successful application and subsequent completion of our pitch-training programme.

Working with partners such as The Guardian, we host a variety of seminars on issues such as raising capital and engaging with public sector spin outs. At the more intimate end of the scale we offer workshops helping entrepreneurs with the nuts and bolts of building a business. Here you can get help with your pitch, improving your financial management or team building skills and fundraising practices.

Networking plays an important part at all our events but we also run a number of events aimed specifically at offering networking opportunities. Once a month we hold "Tea Time Q&A" sessions at our offices on Old Street. For no charge you can come to our office, ask questions and receive advice from the ClearlySo team and other social entrepreneurs. They’re an excellent low cost and low risk way to raise issues affecting your business and find solutions.
