Its history
The Company was founded in 1940 by David S. Smith, initially as a manufacture of cartons. The business was incorporated in 1978 and listed on the London Stock Exchange on 3rd March 1986. In 2001, the company changed its name from David S. Smith (Holdings) Plc to DS Smith Plc.
