The Sutherland Health Group Group advocates for greater awareness of women’s sexual health issues. The company is ISO registered, and is planning a quality management system.
What is its business model?
Sutherland Health Group’s aim is to supply solutions to sexual health issues by studying current trends and working alongside sexual health professionals. The company supplies condoms and sexual lubricants to the UK National Health Service (NHS). It has recently announced several large contracts with the NHS, though it still operates at a loss. Since its launch the Condomania brand has achieved a 9% share of the NHS market (2.25% of the total UK market). The Company's strategy is to bring a pipeline of new sexual health products to the UK market, focusing on the development of its relationship with the NHS. Fundraising is currently underway to raise up to £500,000 for working capital to support sales growth, and to continue new product development. The group encourages both institutional and private investors.
Its history
Sutherland Health Group’s (SHG) business was founded in February 2000 by the current chief executive George Sutherland. The company had one brand, Condomania. This began as a direct-to-the-public supplier of condoms and evolved into a supplier of sexual health products for customers such as the NHS. In March 2004, the company successfully raised £110,000 in preparation for a public listing, and the company was listed on PLUS Markets in January 2005. In March 2006, the Sutherland Health Group (then the Sexual Health Group) acquired Sutherland Group Holdings, which brought its number of products to sixteen.
